Sir Elton John Performing in Victoria February 14-15

posted on Jan 07

Elton John is a legendary performer who has entertained audiences all over the world and now, for the first time, he is coming to Victoria for the only Canadian stops on his latest tour.  Elton is an amazing person who has covered the whole genre of music and has a unique local (Vancouver) connection. In the early days of his career Elton was asked to join a band led by the blues singer Long John Baldry, this band went on to become a reincarnation of Elton's previous band called Bluesology.  Later, Long John Baldry moved to Vancouver, where he continued singing, recording and living, until his sad passing in 2005.

Elton is a universally-acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician who has dedicated his life to entertaining his fans in venues large and small.  He has performed for royalty and he has performed for working-class people in almost every conceivable concert hall, arena and club in big cities and small towns the world over. I remember first listening to "Your Song" written by Elton's partner Bernie Taupin and became an instant fan. Later he moved on to his "glitter" phase introducing songs like Crocodile Rock and other show-piece numbers.  This is a concert not-to-be-missed and I hope (if any tickets are still available) that you will be able to see him perform live, with his band at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, two shows only February 14th and 15th.
